The Republican People's Party (CHP) consulted its voters to answer various questions regarding the aftermath of the recent parliamentary elections. According to a poll that was conducted by Leadership Research and Consulting (LRC) in Istanbul on June 13 with face-to-face interviews with 660 participants, it was revealed that 25.5 percent of CHP voters want a coalition between the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) while 19.1 percent want a CHP-MHP coalition followed by 17.4 percent who want a CHP-MHP-HDP coalition and 8.3 percent who want an AK Party-CHP coalition. Another 11.2 percent of the participants said that they would support any coalition without the AK Party.

The research also took the possibility of snap elections into consideration and the participants were asked whether possible early elections would affect the economy positively or negatively. Forty-two percent of the participants thought it would negatively affect the economy while 22.3 percent believed that the economy would benefit from early elections. Furthermore, the research presented the indispensable principles of CHP voters. Some 86.5 percent of the participants said that corruption must be investigated and 46.3 percent advocated a substantial increase to the minimum wage. Also, 45.3 percent said that the election threshold must be lowered and 35 percent said that farmers should be able to buy fuel at a lower price in order to support agriculture. These statistics were also important to ranking officials of the CHP in determining conditions that consisted of 14 points for a possible coalition with the AK Party.

In last week's news, the business world had said that it supports a broad-based coalition of the AK Party and the CHP, but it was revealed that the AK Party counsel among top ranking officials this week showed an inclination toward a coalition with MHP.
