ANKARA — Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yıldız, Labor Minister Faruk Çelik and Salih Kapusuz, vice president of the ruling AK party, met with 10 representatives of the Soma miners in the AK Party headquarters in Ankara on Thursday.
The miners had staged a sit-in front of the Soma district governorate on Wednesday and officials promised the miners a meeting with the ministers.
Mine workers stated that they will keep protesting and not go back to work unless work safety issues are fully resolved, work conditions are improved and until proper inspections are carried out.
They have also called on the local union representatives to resign.
