Free outdoor opera screenings at Istanbul's Zorlu PSM

The Aix-en-Provence Festival, being held July 3 to July 22 this year, will move to Zorlu PSM Amphi's giant screen in cooperation with the Istanbul French Culture Center. Created by combining a music festival with other organizations, such as the Cannes Film Festival and the Avignon Theater Festival after World War II, the Aix-en-Provence Festival's special selection, including "Pinocchio," "Carmen," "The Rake's Progress," "Don Giovanni" and "Erismena," will meet Istanbul's art lovers with open air screenings on July 19 and 26 and Aug. 2, 8 and 16.

The libretto of Joel Pommerat of "Pinnocchio," created by Carlo Collodi, which became one of the most iconic characters in the world, has been carried to the opera stage by Phillippe Boesmans and is now in Turkey for opera lovers to enjoy. A new production of the-world famous opera, "Carmen," adapted from the short story of Prosper Merimee, will be presented to audiences.

Igor Stravinsky's opera by Chester Simon Kallman, "The Rake's Progress" was first performed on the La Fenice stage in Venice in 1951, yet with a new production and a young theme, it is still vivid and popular today. Mozart's classic "Don Giovanni" and "Erismena" by Frances Cavalli will be performed with the collaboration of Theatres de la Ville de Luxembourg and presented on the giant screen of Zorlu PSM.
