The 25th Akbank Jazz Festival will present performances by respected jazz artists along with other activities like panels and workshops. The festival will host many panels and workshops with artists from Turkey and abroad on various topics. Attending panels is free of charge.PANELS - Venues: Akbank SanatAstrays: Moderated by jazz programmer Hakan Rauf Tüfekçi, the panel keeps up by expanding topics that had been covered last year in its first iteration. The 1960s had an influence on a global scaled in cultural and social contexts, enhanced radical changes in the U.S. for the equality and freedom of African-Americans, and also had a major influence on jazz. Creative and hot-blooded musicians from this period claimed that mainstream jazz had been dominated by European-American white culture and they have slightly revolted against the musical and economic context of that period. The repercussions of these events on today within political artistic and economic contexts will be discussed by Çağlayan Yıldız and Tolga Tüzün and moderated by Hakan Rauf Tüfekçi.When: Friday, Oct. 23 at 1:00 p.m.Jazz on the radio: Jazz shows started to be produced on private radios apart from TRT Radio-3 by the 1990s and have increased in number with Internet broadcasting web radios. The research project titled "Common Origins of European Jazz" will be published following a three-year study. The book handles the European jazz story from the last 100 years with an organic and linear approach and expected to be published in 2018. This year, children combine their talents with their bodies, drawing and jazz. At this workshop led by expert psychologist, instructor, author and actor Burcu Tekin, children between 7 and 11 years old will set their creativity free by creative drama, improvisation, rhythmic dance and drawing activities. They will make a drawing of jazz while being entertained by games and dances. Based on this rhythm, xylophones, marimbas, glockenspiels and other keyed metalophones as well as percussion instruments will be used to produce simple melodic improvisations with children and will form a colorful children's jazz orchestra by arranging final compositions.
