Iron Maiden's Dickinson undergoes cancer treatment


Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson completed a seven-week course of chemotherapy and radiology treatment yesterday, having been diagnosed with cancer of the tongue before Christmas.A statement posted on the band's official website on Thursday said a cancerous tumor had been discovered at the back of his tongue during a routine check-up in December and doctors expect Dickinson to make a full recovery, "with the all-clear envisaged by late May."Asking for everyone's patience, understanding and respect for the singer and his family's privacy, the team said in the statement that the prognosis is extremely good as the tumor was discovered in the early stages. The statement concluded that "Bruce is doing very well considering the circumstances and the whole team is very positive."The team also said that they will give an update about the situation of the singer, who is also a pilot and businessman, by the end of May.
