Turkey's Christian community marked Easter on Sunday in churches across the country.
The Armenian Orthodox celebrations were concentrated in the southeastern city of Diyarbakır at the restored Surp Giragos Church with the participation of a large crowd of Turkish-Armenian citizens while the Protestant community marked the day at a church in the northwestern city of İzmit.
Easter eggs were delivered to Christian faithfuls and guests at the ceremonies.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Ömer Çelik gave a statement to celebrate Easter which said, "One of the most important values that we inherit from the Anatolian culture is the civilization that enables us to live as a whole in fraternity; with all cultures and beliefs together. In the light of that civilization, a multicultural way of life will continue to exist in these lands."
