Dozens killed in Iraq bomb attacks

At least 32 people were killed and 49 wounded on Wednesday in separate bomb attacks and clashes in different Iraqi cities, according to security sources.

18 people died as a result of multiple attacks launched with bombs and explosive-laden vehicles on the capital Baghdad's al-Baya', Karrada, Bab al-Sharqi and New Baghdad neighborhoods, police authorities said.

Meanwile, Iraqi troops carried out military operations against self-proclaimed ISIS militants in the western province of Anbar, killing ten militants. Two civilians were also killed during clashes.

The head of Anbar's provincial council, Sabah Kerhot, told Anadolu Agency that the air forces had bombarded an ISIS headquarters located in Ramadi, the capital of Anbar.

Separately, two unidentified militants died in Kirkuk after a car bomb exploded on al-Quds Street.

The violence in Iraq escalated in early June after a coalition of armed groups linked to the ISIS took control of large swathes of the country's predominantly Sunni provinces.

Over a million civilians have been displaced so far amid the ongoing clashes in the north and west of the country.
