Organized by the European Chess Union (ECU) under the auspices of the Turkish Chess Federation (TSF), the European Chess Club Cup will be held in Antalya from Oct. 7 to Oct. 15.
The tournament will be broadcasted by the world chess community, TSF announced on Wednesday. Regarded as the top-level chess organization among the club contests, the EUC will be run in two categories - general and women. While 35 chess clubs from 21 countries will compete in the general category, there will be competing 12 clubs from eight countries in the women category.
Held every year as part of the activity program of the ECU, the cup was held in Turkey in 2002, 2004 and 2007. In the organization, which will host the most prominent clubs and athletes of Europe, there will be a monetary award of 34,000 euros.
The opening ceremony of the EUC will take place tomorrow at 7:30 p.m., and the closing ceremony will be on Oct. 14 at 10 p.m.
