Supported by the Turkey Technology Team Foundation, the "T3/0008 Star" team was awarded with the grand prize in five different branches in the World RoboCup Championship.

The foundation announced that its technology teams hit the headlines at the 21st World RoboCup Championship, which is one of the most prominent science contests in the world and was held in Japan's Nagoya city this year.

At the search and rescue league of the championship, there were more than 3,000 contestants from over 40 countries. In this league, the "T3/0008 Star" team came first, surpassing 23 teams from prominent universities like MIT, Darmstadt and North Bangkok universities from Japan, Germany, the U.S. and Thailand.

Granted with four other awards thanks to the robots they contested with, the "T3/0008 Star" team brought something new to the history of championship thanks to their success.

Consisting of Yıldız Technical University academics Assoc. Prof. Sırma Yavuz, Assoc. Prof. M. Fatih Amasyalı, Asst. Prof. Erkan Uslu, Research Assistant Furkan Çakmak, Research Assistant Nihal Altuntaş along with undergraduates Salih Marangoz, Mustafa Burak Dilaver, Azad Yaşar, Numan Keskin and Kutay Yılmaz, the "T3/0008 Star" team scored a legendary victory while taking five awards in the championship, which they attended with two robots. Granted with the awards of "Best Discovery Robot," "Best Autonomous Robot," "Best Outdoor Robot" and "Best Small Discovery Robot" in the genuine robot league, the team was also granted with the "Visual Robots Grand Prize" in the simulation search and rescue league.

Another team, which was supported by Turkey Technology Team Foundation and has Okan Aşkın, a postgraduate at Boğaziçi University Department of Computer Engineering, "T3/004 RoboAKUT" came third under the category of "Rescue Simulation League."
