A unique dark bloom usually only available in the spring, Şanlıurfa's Halfeti district's famous black roses will soon be packaged and available to anyone who would like to enjoy this special bloom all year long.

Now grown in glass greenhouses, the Halfeti Regional Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Livestock has started packaging the native black roses in a new promotional campaign.

The wrapped flowers will primarily be sold in areas with heavy tourist traffic, giving visitors the opportunity to soak up their seasonal beauty every day of the year.

Halfeti District Governor Şeref Albayrak said the black rose of Halfeti is a species exclusive to the region and well known in culture, arts and literature.

Speaking about the district's cultivation projects, Albayrak explained that they offered cultivation courses for women in the district last year.

Stressing that everyone who visits Halfeti wants to see the famous black roses, Albayrak reiterated that once the roses are packaged, they will be available for purchase in the near future.

"They will be cultivated by Birecik Reservoir"

The District Director of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Hakan Akmeşe, stated that they have already cultivated about 1,500 black roses in glass greenhouses, adding that Halfeti's endemic bloom will also be cultivated along the Birecik Reservoir shore once again, where the roses tend to blossom in a darker tone.

While explaining the meticulous cutting and wrapping process, Akmeşe said: "We will preserve the roses by drying them, then they will be wrapped and presented for purchase. The dried roses closely resemble their live counterparts, with the drying process even preserving their fragrance. Because they do not blossom every season, they were not always available for purchase. As a result, we have developed this project to meet the demand."
