Turkey is undoubtedly a cat paradise. In the ancient city of Ephesus, located in western İzmir province, stray cats add an extra attraction for tourists.
An estimated 150 cats populate Ephesus, which was founded in the 10th century B.C. and is filled with Greek and Roman ruins.
Ephesus has become one of Turkey's most popular tourist destinations, both for its history and its feline residents.
Named a UNESCO world heritage site in 2015, Ephesus attracts more than 2 million visitors yearly. The city has been a site for Christian pilgrimage since the fifth century.
