International paragliders head to central Anatolia


The seventh annual international paragliding championship is being held in the central province of Kayseri's Mount Ali, which has an altitude of 2,000 meters. Situated in Kayseri's Talas district, the five-day event organized by the municipality will include 130 paragliders from five countries.The competition route stretches 45 kilometers from the Tomarza district to the Akmescit area. Aside from local paragliders, there are around 130 participants from Iran, Russia, Ukraine and Bulgaria. Talas Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu said that each year the area hosts different sports competitions."Mount Ali is one of Turkey's best spots for aerial tournaments. Last year, Turkey's national paragliding team was in Belgrade for the world paragliding championship tournament. We also want to host international tournaments in Kayseri." Paragliders went through test runs on the first day of the tournament. The championship will end on July 15.
