Under a joint project put together by Turkish Airlines (THY) and the Western Mediterranean Development Agency (BAKA), more than 20 social media stars from a number of Arab countries are visiting the southern city of Antalya for a six-day trip to promote Turkey to their thousands of followers. Each with around 500,000 followers, the group is visiting the city's popular travel destinations, including Alanya, Gündoğmuş, Kemer and Kumluca, while sharing photos and their experiences on social media platforms. The group arrived in Turkey last weekend and toured Alanya on their first day. They also paid a visit to the Dim Inn, Alanya Castle and Alanya Marina. The travel program also covers tours to Olympos, the Aspendos Theater, Düden Waterfall and Uçansu Waterfall.
As an alternative project to boost tourism in the Mediterranean region, the travel project has been initiated by the BAKA, which has previously orchestrated tourism programs for Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan as well as Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) countries. With the support of the Professional Hotel Managers Association (POYD), the group is staying at luxury hotels such as Wome Deluxe, Crystal Nirvana Lagoon Villas, Suites & Spa.
The group will also visit EXPO 2016 Antalya, which has attracted 90,000 local and international tourists in only its first three days. On the program's last day, the group will meet local people famous for their social media accounts in Antalya. There are many natural and historic sites that make Antalya unique such as Cleopatra Beach, Kaputaş Beach, Perge, Kurşunlu-Manavgat Waterfalls, the Köprülü Canyon, the Karain Cave, the Ancient City of Side and the Ancient City of Termessos.
