An aid platform for the homeless in the southern province of Antalya has brought homemade food to people who have lived in the city's hospitals, bus terminals and cemeteries for the last two years and is now organized on social media. The platform includes members from different professions who distribute food to the homeless at designated times across Antalya. With the motto: "Giving a cup of soup to the homeless," the platform offers food as well as clothes and medicine.
Roughly 50 homeless people are reportedly living in Antalya, with most of them residing under bridges. Umut Araz, one of the platform members, said they are asking for help from institutions. "Homelessness is a serious issue. We introduce projects for the homeless," Araz said. Mustafa Koşar, a homeless man living in Antalya, said: "These people come to help us every evening." He is asking officials to settle the displaced people in shelters or homes. Koşar tries to earn money by selling things he collects in garbage cans. Another homeless man, Kemal İlhan, pointed out that homeless people have to stay in hospitals or sleep on benches.
