This New Years, tourists from America and even the far East are spending their holiday in Cappadocia, the land of fairy chimneys and underground cities, cave churches and stylish boutique hotels. One of Turkey's gems, this city offers various events to ring in the New Year on a beautiful, snowy landscape. Namely, the Göreme Open Air Museum, the Valley of Güvercinlik, the Uçhisar Castle and the Kaymaklı Underground City are the first places tourists flock to when they get to Cappadocia.
Some tourists enjoy visiting Cappadocia's historical sites and noteworthy places, while others enjoy an aerial view of the city on one of the city's famous hot-air balloon tours. Tourists who visit the Valley of Güvercinlik nestled in the Uçhisar district say that the unique natural pattern of the landscape is what amazes them.
Kerri Meyer, an American tourist, came to Cappadocia from Colorado. "This is the first time I have been to Turkey. I feel happy to spend the New Year here," Meyer said. Somson Meyer also said that they have visited many countries so far, but that Cappadocia's natural beauty is very different. "I felt as if I was in another world, somewhere different. The landscape looks like a film set. It has a different atmosphere," Meyer added. Tourist guide Gökhan Yaramış also said that Cappadocia is attracting a growing number of tourists nowadays.
