Each year, 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted, while food production is sufficient enough for the world population. The amount of food produced in Sub-Saharan Africa is equivalent to the food wasted just in the United States, an amount of 222 million tones. There are thousands of infants suffering from malnutrition due to the high amount of waste around the world.
According to WHO findings, over four million infants die from malnutrition each year. Today, 870 million people, including women and children, suffer from malnutrition. To fight malnutrition, one of the main health problems of the U.N., Yeryüzü Doktorları (Doctors Worldwide) send food and health aid to thousands of women and infants through its project "Bebekler Açlığa Dayanamaz" (Babies Cannot Endure Hunger). So far, Doctors Worldwide has sent food and health aid to poor countries like Congo, Kenya, Gana, Gaza, Nigeria and Somalia and aims to eradicate malnutrition worldwide. Through this campaign, you can send a TL 90 ($31) donation to meet an infant's medical and food needs for 100 days. It is also possible to meet a woman and her child's food needs by donating TL 180. To support the campaign, you can make an online donation on the website yyd.org.tr or send an SMS to 6612.
