Turkey's fourth face transplant patient ties the knot

Turan Çolak, Turkey's fourth face transplant recipient, married Bircan Çolak with a wedding ceremony held at Akdeniz University's Student Club last month. Çolak's surgeon, Professor Ömer Özkan of Akdeniz University's Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department, and his wife as well as Mehmet Şahan, the president of Akdeniz Renal Patients and Organ Donation Social Aid Foundation (AKBÖHÖNDER), and his relatives attended the wedding. The couple entered the venue holding each other's hands. They celebrated their wedding day with friends and family members.

Çolak said that it was the happiest day of his life because he married the woman he loves. "I could not imagine this day. First, my face was changed and then my life," he said. His wife, Bircan Çolak, is the recipient of a kidney donation. "I met my wife when she was in hospital for a check-up. We fell in love and got married. As both of us are still receiving treatment, we will stay in Antalya," he said. Bircan Çolak also expressed her happiness at the ceremony.
