Turkey-S. Korea friendship forest founded


To commemorate the sacrifices made by soldiers and the brotherhood between Turkey and South Korea on the 65th anniversary of the Korean War, the governorate of the Korean city of Gyeongsangbukdo and Turkey's Forestry Ministry signed a protocol laying the foundations of the Friendship Forest. Speaking at the tree planting ceremony in Eyüp Ağaçlı village, Deputy General Director of Forestry Ahmet İpek said that they want to eternalize the friendship between the two countries on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Korean War. In his speech, İpek offered insight into the exemplary practices of the Forestry Ministry, which has a history of 176 years in forestation and the prevention of erosion, its success in putting out forest fires and the mobility of the ministry's teams. He said that the ministry is in collaboration with many countries in order to make use of Turkey's forestry structures and practices for their own institutions.
