İztuzu Beach in Daylan, Muğla, has come fifth on a list of Europe's must-see beaches and also is in top 20 among the beaches of the world, according to the reviews compiled from TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel site. Mehmet Çobanoğlu, a board member of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) West Mediterranean Region, told Anadolu Agency that the beach attracts 1.5 million tourists annually and almost 3,000 tourists daily. The region's natural beauty and loggerhead sea turtles are the two other appealing elements, he said. Pointing to the significance of the beach's ranking, Çobanoğlu said the success demonstrates how the beach has been well-preserved for years. "Tourists also care about İztuzu and visits it for its nature," he added. Along with Dalyan, the districts of Marmaris and Fethiye are also top tourist destinations. "Dalyan is not a coastal place like Marmaris or Fethiye. Tourists reach the beach by boat or minibus. If we do not properly protect its environment, tourists will prefer other destinations," Çobanoğlu said. He stressed that the reviews on TripAdvisor are an important reference source, as the website is used by millions of travelers from all around the word and gives information about hotels and cultural places. In addition to Muğla, Kaputaş Beach in Antalya's Kaş district came in 2nd on the top must-see beaches in Europe. There is no other beach from Turkey on the global list.
