ISTANBUL — While some climbed thousands of meters up a mountain, others dived to the depths of the sea to draw attention to the mining disaster that took place in Soma. Mountain climbers from Nevşehir climbed up Cilo Mountain in memory of the miners who lost their lives. The banner they opened read, "Our hearts are with you. God rest their souls." A group of students from Bartın University located in the Black Sea region planted 301 trees to build a memorial forest for the 301 miners who died in the accident. Another unique and thoughtful action came from divers in Muğla's popular holiday resort of Marmaris. The divers descended into the blue waters and unraveled banners with messages of condolence for the Soma victims.
