An x-Ray machine for vehicles was installed at the main gate of Istanbul Atatürk International Airport on Wednesday as a part of new security measures taken in Turkey's most crowded airport.Following the bomb attack at the airport on June 28, which resulted the death of more than 40 people, and the failed coup attempt orchestrated by the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) on July 15, when the putschists closed the entrance to the airport with tanks, security forces have begun searching all vehicles that seek to enter the airport area, causing queues hundreds of meters long. The x-ray for vehicles coming from abroad has been installed at the airport in order to scan the vehicles before they enter the airport.The new technology will deal with vehicles faster while ensuring that any bombs and weapons possibly hidden in the vehicles will be detected. Starting from Wednesday, personnel at the airport as well as visitors will be asked to remove all metal items from their person, including their belts before passing through the first metal detector at the airport.
