Authorities announced yesterday that police in the Mediterranean Turkish city of Antalya arrested Jovan Vukotic, head of Skaljari, a feared mafia clan operating in the Balkans.
Vukotic, who was wanted by Serbia, was captured on September 8. He was driving a luxury car when he was stopped in a district of Antalya called Lara, famed for its beaches. He had a forged passport in his possession and referred to migration authorities for deportation.
Skaljari is accused of drug smuggling, murder and other crimes; Vukotic had an international arrest warrant issued against him for the smuggling of 136 kilos of cocaine in 2017.
