Suspect arrested over 3 bus shootings in Turkish capital

A suspect has been arrested for shooting at coaches in Ankara, said the Turkish capital's governorship on Saturday.

The suspect used a shotgun to fire at three buses while driving, police said.

According to a written statement from the governor's office, seven passengers were slightly injured in the attack, which occurred on Ankara's belt highway Saturday evening.

Ankara police apprehended the suspect's car on the southern part of the highway.

The suspect has 24 criminal records such as assault with intent, threat and sexual assault, says the governor's office.

The driver of one of the targeted coaches, Zülküf Murat Üzülmez, told Anadolu Agency that it was heading to southeastern province of Diyarbakır.

"There were 37 passengers. No one saw it. We have three-four wounded. They were taken to hospital", he said, adding that eight shots were heard in total.

He also said passengers were injured because of the broken glass.
