German authorities announced on Tuesday that two Turkish citizens were arrested on suspicion of support for Junud al-Sham, a militant group linked to al-Nusra Front in Syria, which is associated with extremism.
Two men, identified as İsmet D, 41 and Emin F., 43, were arrested upon the orders of the prosecutor's office in Karlsruhe, Germany on charges of collecting money and equipment for the armed group and recruiting militants. German media reported that the two men collected more than 6,000 euros to fund the organization under the guise of a nongovernmental organization operating at a mosque. Germany is among the countries where radical factions in Syria, particularly the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), recruit members.
