Government efforts to improve mining safety are proceeding in line with the probe into the mine disaster
ANKARA — Parliament yesterday adopted a bill that all four parties in the assembly submitted ordering the establishment of an investigative commission into last week's Soma mine disaster that claimed 301 lives. Meanwhile, a court in Soma rejected the prosecutor's request for the arrest of the Soma coal mine's owner Alp Gürkan, whose son Can and several executives are currently in jail pending the investigation.
