The website contains all the information with regards to the Zeugma Antique City, its history and civilization, its mosaics and artworks as well as providing up to date information about the ongoing excavations.
The platform, containing scientific reviews and publications, also offers the floor plan and the promotion leaflet of the Zeugma Mosaic Museum, enables visitors to tour the Zeugma Antique City and the Gaziantep Archeology Museum in a 360 degree circle environment.
In addition to Turkish, the website is also available in English, Arabic, German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin.
Adil Sani Konukoğlu, the head of GSO, said that the project aims both to protect and promote the cultural heritage of Gaziantep, and to advertise it in Turkey and the rest of the world; whilst noting that this website will greatly contribute to these aims.
Zeugma is 10 kilometers away from Nizip located within the boundaries of Gaziantep. The word means literally bridge or crossing in ancient Greek. The ancient term Zeugma actually referred to the twin cities on the opposing banks of the Euphrates River. They were settlements established by commander Seleucus Nicator around 300 BCE.
