Held for the second time by the Buca Municipality in Izmir province from Sept. 15-17, the Sleep Fest will offer participants a chance to escape from the clutches of digital addiction and dependency caused by the rapidly expanding technology age, allowing them to take a 48-hour hiatus from their digital devices. Preregistration for the 2nd Technologic Sleep Festival is open now until July 31. Organized with the cooperation of Buca Municipality and Radio Romantik, the festival will be held in the district of Kaynaklar Kale as it was last year.
The festival aims to give participants a chance to take a two-day break from what has been defined in medical terms as digital addiction, allowing them to explore face-to-face communication. The festival will ban electronics while offering participants a chance to consume natural products, play forgotten street games, read books in the heavenly scenic views of nature in Kaynaklar and hike in the tranquility of nature, all while enjoying time far removed from the information overload of the digital world.
A drawing will be held to select 400 participants following the closing of preregistration on July 31, paving the way for an unforgettable experience from Sept. 15-17.
Describing the festival as a "digital detox," Buca Mayor Levent Priştina spoke highly of the organization's aims to open natural lines of communication outside of the digital world and creating optimal space for face-to-face communication.
