Refik Anadol’s space-themed exhibition goes on display in Istanbul

Artist Refik Anadol’s new solo exhibition “Machine Memories: Space” went on display in Istanbul last week.

The exhibition will be presented at the Pilevneli Gallery in Beyoğlu’s Dolapdere district until April 25.

Anadol, whose show includes recent works that have not been exhibited before, presents invisible space data to the audience through poetic metaphors.

The Turkish media artist said he aims to provide viewers with a new conceptual framework that sheds light on astronomical research in human history.

Anadol pointed out that the exhibition, which has various sections spreading over four floors, surrounds the viewer with raw data, sculptures, paintings and gives the feeling of a world that they can enter step by step.

The exhibition is open for visitors free of charge everyday day of the week, except Sunday.

Anadol said he plans to hold two more exhibitions in Turkey this year.

Born in Istanbul in 1985, Anadol is a media artist and director based in Los Angeles in the U.S.

He works in the field of site-specific public art via various means, including parametric data sculptures and live audio/visual performances with immersive installations.
