A hungry female lion managed to catch a gazelle after a challenging chase. However, after starting to shred it, the lion realized that the gazelle was pregnant. Her reaction surprised even the photographer.

Removing the baby gazelle slowly from the mother's womb, the lion began to clean waste from it for several minutes. She also kept an eye on the surrounding area to prevent any possible threats.

Unfortunately the baby was already dead and, upon realizing that she could not save it, the lion took the dead body and left it far away.

Describing what he'd witnessed as one of the most interesting acts he'd ever seen in a lion, the photographer added that the lion had moved with maternal instinct. He also suggested that the lion might have felt the heartbeat of the baby and showed kindness.
