1st day of Türkiye's Aegean Rally ends

The first day of the 5th race of the Shell Helix 2022 Turkish Rally Championship has ended. See some of the action.

Some 62 vehicles competed in the event that commenced with the start given in front of the Royal Teos Thermal Resort Clinic and Spa, Izmir, Türkiye, Oct. 15, 2022.

A moment of silence was held for those who lost their lives in the mine explosion in Bartın.

The 5th leg of the Shell Helix Turkish Rally Championship – the Royal Teos Aegean Rally – started at the Royal Teos Hotel.

Seferihisar District Governor Mehmet Şerif Olçaş also gives the go-ahead for the rally.

Pilots completed the Beyler stage on the first day.

Participants passed the Orhanlı (Williams) and Beyler stages twice. After the first day's stages, the top three places in the general classification were Orhan Avcıoğlu/Burçin Korkmaz, Burak Çukurova/Burak Akçay and Ali Türkkan/Burak Erdener.

The vehicle of Yasin Güleç and Taner Akgenç, with door No. 36, rolled over.

Fatih Kara/Bilge Ayan in the two-wheel drive classification, Üstün Üstünkaya/Kerim Tar in the historic classification, and Oğuz Gürsel in the TOSFED Rally Cup Hakan Gürel/Çağatay Kolaylı finished the first day in first place.

The rally will be completed tomorrow by passing the Çatalca (Royal Teos) and Gödence (Berkem Motors) stages twice.

In the Aegean Rally, organized for the 31st time this year by the Aegean Automobile Sports Club, participants will compete on an asphalt track of 283.42 kilometers (176.11 miles) for two days.
