A foreign referee is set to take charge of Sunday's Greek Super League match between AEK Athens and PAOK. Due to security concerns, Finnish referee Mattias Gestranius will preside over the match.
The move to have foreign referees officiate important matches in Greece comes amid rising violence and match-fixing allegations in Greek football.
Last season, Ivan Savvidis, the chairman of Greek football club PAOK, stormed the pitch while carrying a gun during a match against AEK Athens. He tried to confront the referee and was eventually banned from football for three years.
