Champion Beşiktaş returned to winning ways in the Turkish Super League after it defeated Alanyaspor 2-1 Saturday.

The match, held in the coastal city of Antalya, saw the Black Eagles taste victory after four league matches.

Beşiktaş were off to good start, finding the net in the 8th minute, thanks to its in-form striker Cenk Tosun.

Alanyaspor, however, managed to equalize in the 26th minute after its Brazilian defender Welinton Souza Silva hit the target.

The match remained uneventful until Beşiktaş Spanish marksman Alvaro Negredo broke the deadlock in the 88th minute with the winning goal.

Before the win against Alanyaspor, Beşiktaş's last victory came against Konyaspor in game week five. After that, the reigning champion suffered two defeats, in the hands of Fenerbahçe and Genclerbirliği, and was held to two draws by Başakşehir and Trabzonspor.

Despite a tough time at home, Beşiktaş has put on a great show in the UEFA Champions League, winning all their three matches so far to lead their group. With Saturday's victory, Beşiktaş is placed third in the league with 18 points in 10 matches.

The clubs latest signing Negredo was extremely happy after the game where he scored his first Super League.

Negredo, transferred in from Valencia, took the field against Alanyaspor in the 79th minute and scored the match-winning goal for the Black Eagles.

Meanwhile, Beşiktaş coach Şenol Güneş breathed a sigh of relief after his team's bad patch finally came to an end. "Our fans should be patient and trust our team. We, unfortunately, got some poor results in away matches. But we have broken the jinx. Negredo did a good job and I am very happy for him. He was down because he was on the bench and could not score before this match. But that's the way it is, somebody plays and somebody is benched. But those who work hard eventually get their rewards," Güneş said.

Beşiktaş will now prepare for a critical Champions League tie against Monaco Wednesday.
