One of the five teams to win the Spor Toto Super League, Trabzonspor, chose its new president on Sunday. Muharrem Usta, a doctor and the owner of a hospital chain, was elected on Sunday during the 70th General Assembly of the club in Trabzon, overcoming his two rivals, İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu and Celil Hekimoğlu. Usta promised to get Shakhtar Donetsk's coach Mircea Lucescu to sign with the Black Sea club next season. He said, "We will assign a coach whose career is full of successes. I believe we will make this journey with Lucescu." The Romanian coach previously trained Galatasaray and Beşiktaş and won titles with both of them. Outgoing president Hacıosmanoğlu became famous after he locked a referee in the Trabzonspor stadium for several hours after making a controversial late penalty decision on Oct. 29 before making infamous sexist comments when defending his action, saying, "If we die, we will die like men, we will not live like women. No one can force us to make us live like women." Hacıosmanoğlu was aptly punished for his behavior and subsequent remarks. The Turkish Football Federation's disciplinary board gave him a nine-month and 10-day suspension, in line with a women's full-term pregnancy time. After the election results were announced, Hacıosmanoğlu was unable to hold back his tears and wept.
