Sirha Istanbul to celebrate Peruvian cuisine


Sirha Istanbul, an international meeting for hotel management, restaurant and food and drink sectors, will be held at the Istanbul Congress Center between Nov. 24 and Nov. 26.As part of the fair, chefs will be selected to represent Turkey for the fourth time in the Bocuse d'Or contest, known as the most prestigious gastronomic competition in the world, which is held in 60 countries. Last year, Mutlu Şevket Yılmaz was the winner from Turkey of the contest that hosted 350 candidates from around the world. Yılmaz represented Turkey in the Bocuse d'Or in May in Budapest where the European elimination contest took place.The Turkish jury committee, including chiefs Rudolf Van Nunen, Mehmet Gök, Savaş Aydemir, Tarkan Özdemir and Gürcan Gülmez, will select the eight candidates that will compete in the contest and four chiefs among them will qualify for the Turkish finals. Bocuse d'Or Turkey pre-selections will take place as part of Sirha İstanbul.Sirha Istanbul is expected to host 450 participants and brands, and more than 13,000 sector professionals will participate in the fair involving food and drink products, kitchen equipment, pastry and bakery products, and innovations in the areas of furniture, dinner table products, textiles, hygiene and technology.There will be also a presentation by the Society of Culinary Tourism as part of the events. Speakers at the events titled "Are You Starting a Restaurant?" and "Branding in Tourism and Gastronomy" will include Fatma Şahin, the mayor of the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, which has become one of the cities in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Nedret Apaydın, the Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism and Gürkan Boztepe, the President of Society of Culinary Tourism. Visitors will taste Peruvian cuisine in the fair as Peru will be the host country this year, while the Taste Inventory of the Anatolia Project will also include almost extinct products from Anatolia accompanied by different events. A conference will be held in the fair titled "Do you have gluten-free options on your menu? Is it a fashion or a need?"
