A cafe exclusive to women in Erzurum

Three women residing in Erzurum's Yakutiye district recently opened a women-only café. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mayor Ali Korkut couldn't hide his surprise when he heard about the women-only café staffed entirely by women as well. He said for the first time, Erzurum welcomed a place where only women can gather with their friends. Men were only allowed to attend the opening ceremony. Owners Zülal Ülker, Gonca Daştan and Ümmühan Daştan felt the need to open a female-only café with the support of their families. "We do not host customers, but our guests here. The café will render high-quality service with affordable prices, as women expect from us," Daştan said. Ülker also said the café is open for not only women wearing the hijab, but also those who do not feel comfortable being among men. Women are able to hold their 'visiting days' at the café where they can accept their guests there rather than at their homes. There are also prayer rooms available at the venue. "Our prices are budget-friendly. We invite all local women to our café," concluded Daştan.
