This summer, womenswear gets a stylish yet romantic, carefree and bohemian vibe with jumpsuits, skirts and dresses with long, floaty cuts, in light shades or powdery pastels. This look is seen at Chloe, Paul and Joe and Giambattista Valli, but in a fairly minor way. Tommy Hilfiger takes things further, matching "boho" looks with beanie hats, trainers and sunglasses with colored lenses.

Last year's fringing is back in a big way for summer with festivals offering strong inspiration for clothing and accessories. Key pieces are leather and, in particular, suede. Roberto Cavalli, Carven, Balmain and Barbara Bui all brought fringes to various items in their womenswear collections.

Sheer fabrics are also a key trend for summer 2016 with soft, sensual looks that suggest rather than show, subtly revealing only certain parts of the body.

While skirts keep legs at least partially covered this season, shorts are sure to show them off. Several versions are in line for this season, with loose-cut shorts and mini shorts at Giorgio Armani or frayed cut-offs at Alexander Wang. Paul & Joe kept things casual with laid-back denim shorts.

An ideal look for summer: Most opted for multi-colored stripes in sometimes psychedelic combinations. Whether vertical or horizontal, wide or super-fine, stripes of all kinds were seen on summer dresses, skirts, tops and pants in catwalk collections from the likes of Missoni, Salvatore Ferragamo and Dolce and Gabbana.

Lace has been reimagined, as the delicate fabric is front and center in several collections like the summer collection by Turkish designer Bora Aksu. The London-based designer enlarges lace patterns to create intricate sheer dresses in bold summery colors of fuchsia, orange, white and yellow.

Last season's pajama trend is even hotter these months. Dolce and Gabbana has designed pajama suits with characteristically big flower prints, while other brands uses flowers as a more discreet addition to oversized pajamas or opt for a lingerie-inspired look, rocking underwear as outerwear with a sportswear feel. From slouchy and loose to frilly and Victorian-esque, they are everywhere. Hispanic silhouettes, lashings of lace and a plethora of ruffles are only a few of them that become a key detailed trend this summer.

Designers bring cartoons, drawings, pop prints and quirky slogans to the most feminine of ensembles this season. This trend offers a contrasting alternative to the season's sensual and chic ensembles. By the way, striped shirtdresses, airy wrap blouses and platform sneakers are expected to dominate 2017 summer/spring fashion trends.

Color choice: There's no single standout color trend this season. Brands bring a wide range of shades from vivid hues to pastel shades, which are popular with almost all labels. Autumnal tones are spotted too, with camel and gray, as well as black and white. However, one noticeably popular color for the season is silver, with Iceberg, Jeremy Scott, Loewe and Iris Van Herpen showing this metallic shade in matte or iridescent versions.

Lace-up flats: Presumably all shoe addicts have seen the lace-up flats that are taking over style blogs and Instagram. Having rapidly become a trend that goes well from casual to smart, lace-up flats are very suitable this summer as they are during spring.
