The 2016 summer women's wear collections will be unveiled on the catwalk at İzmir Fashion Week, scheduled to run from April 12 to April 14 next week. Fashion shows will be held at Arena İzmir, the city's large event venue.

Eight runway shows are scheduled for the three-day event, which will see fashion designers, bloggers and professionals flock to the popular Aegean city. The official program features runway shows by fashion brands and designers like Murat Acar, Ayşe Kaşlıoğlu, Yiğit Eryendi, FC Plus, and Gökçe Nur Özbek. A runway show on April 14 will be exclusive to children's fashion. Mukadder Özden, the head of the Association of Aegean Clothing Industrialists (EGSD), said during a press conference that the fashion week contributes to Turkey's ready-to-wear industry, and more designers will have a chance to launch their new collections.

"Each year, we receive good feedback," Özden said. Last year, the opening catwalk show featured attire designed by the graduates of İzmir Economy University's Department of Fashion and Textile Design. The young fashion designers used Oscar Wilde's story "Rose and the Nightingale" as inspiration for their work. İzmir Fashion Week is organized by the EGSD, Rönesans Agency and the Union of Aegean Exporters (EİB). It is free of charge to all who are interested in attending.
