How to wear your wellies (Wellingstons)

Wellington boots are not just practical in wet weather, they can be very eye-catching and fashionable as well. However, to achieve you must first stick to a few rules. "Wellington boots don't belong in the office environment," says personal shopper Sonja Grau. Official engagements are another place where rubber boots are best left at home. For events like that, you may want to bring a pair of shoes along to wear after you have walked through the wet weather. Grau thinks there's hardly another occasion where Wellington boots may not be worn. The best shape of boot to wear depends on the rest of your outfit. "High boots look great with tight trousers," says Grau. Straight or very baggy trousers can be best set off against a pair of rubber Chelsea boots. Color and decoration should match the wearer's personality and not just the rest of their outfit, advises Grau. A classic outfit is best matched with a reserved pair of boots that have no pattern and are monotone. A livelier outfit goes well with boots decorated with hearts, flowers or animal patterns.
