İstanbulied duo, comprised of mezzo-soprano Ekin Bezirganoğlu and pianist Senem Zeynep Ercan, offers the audience a lied repertoire that brings poem and music, and vocal and piano together. Bezirganoğlu performed in the operas of Carmen and Lucia Di Lammermoor in the Summer Arts Festival in the U.S. in 2007. The mezzo-soprano also performed the song "Imeneo" at the İzmir Stata Opera and Ballet's International İzmir Festival under the baton of Conductor Paolo Villa in 2009.
She also performed "Carmen" accompanied by the Dokuz Eylül Symphony Orchestra. She was awarded the third place at the International Sedat-Güzin Gürel Lied Competition in 2010. Above and beyond, she won the Jury's Special Award with "Best Interpretation of Turkish Music." Meanwhile, Senem Zeynep Ercan completed her masters at Istanbul Technical University's Center for Advanced Studies in Music in 2002 in the field of "piano performance" under the supervision of pianist and state artist Ayşegül Sarıca.
Ercan gained her Ph.D. degree in 2011 and continued her doctoral program with a scholarship from Memphis University in 2006-2008. The accomplished pianist participated in many solo concerts, chamber concerts and studio recordings. She performed first recordings of Turkish and American contemporary composers.
