An exhibition titled "Jewelry Tezhip" created by illumination artist Naciye Subaşı will open on Dec. 19 at the Dolmabahçe Art Gallery. Some 30 works by the artist can be seen in the exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Directorate of Cultural Events. The exhibition will end on Dec. 29. With an attempt to carry the Ottoman style of Turkish Illumination and Decorative Arts or "Tezhip" to the present day, the artist reinterprets this classical style through her own original understanding and creativity. "Tezhip" or the art of illumination is an art form of decorating illustrations and artworks with gold and hand carving. She has participated in numerous local and international art exhibitions in Cairo, Dubai, Tunisia, Jeddah, Berlin, Istanbul, Tehran and Tokyo along with her husband, Professor Hüsrev Subaşı who is also a calligraphy artist.
