China-born concert pianist comes to Istanbul for exclusive performance

Ji Liu, who struck fame after being labelled a "wonder boy," comes to the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall for a special performance on Dec. 8. Liu began his musical education at the age of three and won his first ever international award for his performance at Carnegie Hall at the age of 13. He enrolled at the Shanghai Conservatory and was trained on piano and orchestra maestro and continued his education in Madrid under the supervision of Dmitri Bashkirov. Liu completed his master studies at the Royal Academy of Music in 2014.
His debut album "Piano Reflections," which was produced by award-wining Andrew Cornall, was launched in 2014 when Liu was 23 years old. The pianist topped the music charts in the U.K. as soon as his album hit the shelves and became the best-selling classical music album of 2014. He released two studio albums titled "Piano Encores" and "Pure Chopin" in the following year and continued his rise with concerts on the most prominent stages in the world such as the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Wigmore Hall, Barbican Centre, St. John's Smith Square, Concertgebouw, Salle Garnier Opéra de Monte-Carloand Shanghai Concert Hall. Believing that classical music is for everyone, Liu dreams of introducing classical music to large masses around the world and making classical music a popular genre.
