One of the most important bands of the Bergen Jazz Stage, Eivind Austad Trio will perform for music lovers tomorrow at Akbank Sanat in Istanbul. Eivind Austad Trio is a modern jazz trio that takes its inspiration from American jazz tradition, classical European music and folk music. Although "The Norwegian School" influenced Eivind Austa, the trio mainly focuses on gospel, rhythm and blues compositions. Among the trio's inspirations, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea and Brad Mehldau stand out.
After 15 years together making music, Eivind Austad Trio recorded their debut album "Moving" at the legendary Rainbow Studios in Oslo and released it in 2016. Eivind Austad, who also plays in master saxophonist Kjetil Moster's band Living Space, is the head of Bergen Music Conservatory's Department of Jazz and gives lessons apart from his work as a musician. Bass player Magne Thormodsater is mainly known for his collaboration with Stale Storlokken, Paolo Vinaccia, Karin Krog and John Surman. On the other hand, drummer Frank Jacobsen, who is the star drummer of Bergen and Oslo Jazz stages, previously played and toured with jazz stars such as Joe Henderson, Phil Woods and John Scofield. In memory of the late David Bowie, the trio will perform Bowie's classics "Life on Mars," "I'm Deranged," "Moonage Daydream," and "Ashes to Ashes" during their Istanbul concerts.
