The 20th Istanbul Theater Festival which will stage nine foreign and 23 Turkish plays continues with William Shakespeare's "Coriolanus." Directed by Malcolm Keith Kay, the play focuses on a noble war hero Coriolanus who was looked down upon and punished by politicians and the public for his stubborn self-regard. Coriolanus is obsessively devoted to his moral codes, and his obsession leads him to his downfall. Even if the people do not want to hear the truth, he continues to speak what is on his mind. The Roman mob, the hungry public and corrupt Roman politicians stand against Coriolanus; however, they find a general who despises them instead of seeking their pity and asking them to support him.
