Italian jazz rhythms on Istanbul stage


The Italian Cultural Center in Istanbul has organized a special event for music lovers in May. The "Italia Jazz Live Istanbul 2016" brings prominent Italian jazz musicians to Istanbul's stages. On May 17, an incredible jazz trio, pianist Giovanni Guidi from Foligno, trumpeter Luca Aquino from Campano and drummer and percussionist Michele Rabbia from Piemante, performs traditional Italian and Mediterranean melodies for Istanbulites. This trio uses the universal language of music to set sail on musical adventures, experiment with notes and find ways to better express themselves. They blend the colors of Mediterranean rhythms with the tranquility, lyricism and charm of the north and blues.The Mauro De Fredericis Quartet, which consists of Mauro De Fredericis on guitar, Carmine Ianieri on saxophone and Gabriele Pesaresi on bass guitar, performs at the Italian Cultural Center in Istanbul on May 19 as a part of the Italia Jazz Live concert series. Guitarist, producer, composer and lecturer Fredericis received his bachelor's degree in guitar from Bari "N.Piccini" Conservatory under the supervision of Professor Linda Calsolaro. He has given concerts around the globe in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Brazil, Argentina, the U.S., Canada, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, France, Turkey, Greece, Belgium and Finland. He has also featured in numerous festivals, such as Umbria Jazz, Blu Note di Milano, Premio Flaiano di Pescara, Pescara Jazz, Time in Jazz di Berchidda (Nuoro), Villa Celimontana di Roma, San Marino Jazz, Eddie Lang Jazz Jestival (Isernia), Chiarino Jazz (Porto Recanati), Festival Jazz di Ruvo di Puglia, Jazz be Good (Mosciano S.Angelo), Interamnia Jazz Festival, Brescia Jazz, Jazz in'it di Vignola, Summer Jazz (Arezzo), Festival del Salento, Pineto Accordion Jazz Festival, Serravalle in Jazz and Festival Jazz di Gubbio.
