Painter ponders hope behind contrasting concepts


The 21st century can be described as chaos considering the wars, migrations, global warming and economic crises. Artist Nebahat Karyağdı questions contrasting concepts such as good and bad, happiness and sadness, chaos and order, hope and despair and love and hate in her new solo exhibition "A New…"

The exhibition will open at Gallery Eksen's venue in Balat, which is one of the historical residential areas of Istanbul, on May 26.

The artist studies the icons of popular culture in her oil paintings and creates her own artistic language by blending these well-known figures with her own imagery. Known for her use of lively colors and bold brush strokes, Karyağdı still has hope for future generations despite all the negativity in the world and she reflects her perspective onto her artworks.
