Pera Museum will host the screenings of the 14th International Filmmor Women's Film Festival on Wheels, whose motto is "Femicide is Preventable: Women's Solidarity Keeps Women Alive." The festival continues with directors Maryam Ebrahimi and Nima Sarvestani's documentary film "No Burqas Behind Bars." Set in Takhar Prison, the film focuses on 40 women and 34 children living in four prison cells. Although women have to wear burqas in the real world, in these prison cells, women living behind the bars have no obligation to put on their burqas. However, in these Afghan prisons, women live without any connection to the outside world, and face threat of death when they are released. Via the testimony of imprisoned women, this documentary shows how "moral crimes" oppress women in post-Taliban Afghanistan, and offers a new perspective on women's struggle to rewrite their life stories, stories which have been shaped by the most trying, challenging of conditions.
