Pera Museum to screen films focusing on women
Pera Museum will host the screenings of the 14th International Filmmor Women's Film Festival on Wheels, whose motto is "Femicide is Preventable: Women's Solidarity Keeps Women Alive." As a part of the annual festival, which shares women's experiences, hopes, visions and dreams via cinema, director Diana Nava's 2014 documentary film "Coria and the Sea" will be screened on March 15. Dedicated to the Sahrawi people, who were exiled from Morocco into the Sahara Desert in the 1970s in the hopes that they would one day go back, the documentary tells the story though the eyes of 11-year-old Coria about a proud woman who, contrary to what the media would have you believe, goes to school, works and fights for their rights. The film is about the struggle of Sahrawi women who clung to life believing that one day they will return their homes. When: March 15 Where: Pera Museum
