The mega star of the Balkans, Dino Merlin, will visit Istanbul after eight years and perform on April 23 at Ora Arena. Merlin began his professional music career with his band Merlin and released five studio albums with the band. In 1991, he launched his solo career under the name "Dino Merlin" and gained international fame in a short time. His album "Sredinom," which was released in 2000, became the top-selling album of the year in the five countries that once composed the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. He performs for 120,000 people every year in Sarajevo, which has a population of 400,000. He is very popular in Bosnia and Herzegovina with his song "Da te nije Alija" (What if You Weren't There, Alija). The chorus of his 2004 hit "Burek" featured Turkish lyrics, and his song "Med," a duet with Turkish pop star Mustafa Sandal, became a huge hit in the Balkans. In 2011, Merlin represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Eurovision Song Contest with his song "Love Rewind" and claimed sixth place, becoming the most successful artist from his country in the history of the song contest. This will be his first performance in Turkey since his concert at Cemal Reşit Rey in 2008.
