Guitar virtuoso invites Istanbulites to experience happiness

Al Di Meola, one of the most appreciated guitar virtuosos in Turkey, comes to Istanbul on Feb. 21 as a part of the third edition of Cemal Reşit Rey (CCR) Jazz February. Al Di Meola performed previously in Turkey, and all the tickets for his events sold out. The guitar virtuoso will once again visit Turkey as a part of his world tour to promote his new studio album "Elysium." Born in 1954, the Italian-American musician began taking interest in music at a very early age. He was inspired by the music of Elvis, the Ventures and the Beatles in his early career, and kicked of his musical education in Berklee College. His professional musical journey began when he became a part of Chick Corea's band Return to Forever. After his star shone brightly in the band, he decided to go solo and recorded his first solo album "Land of the Midnight Sun" in 1976. He made a breakthrough with his album "Friday Night in San Francisco," which he recorded with John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia. Al Di Meola's choice for his newest album's title is very interesting. "Elysium means ‘total happiness.' I chose this title because I am a very happy place in my life," he said. "My music brings past and present together. My technique unites deep emotions that I am very proud of," he added. Those who have missed the guitar rhythms of Al Di Meola are invited to CRR to witness a music feast.
