Organized by Esra Özkan and Gencer Uçar, the "Curves in Shadows" exhibition presents different perspectives on women and women's bodies based on the terms "woman" and "existence" by bringing five young contemporary artists together. The artists discuss women's positions in social life, violence, the male gaze and portraying women's bodies as an object in their artworks. As a part of a social responsibility project, Ahmet Yörük, one of the artists featured at the exhibition, focuses on violence against women and displays his different techniques that include combining newspaper clippings on models. Another artist participating in the exhibition, Doğa Başaran, displays her art project "Old is the New Black" focusing on the objectification of women. Cansın Öztürk interprets women's changes and transformations in different times and situations throughout history, while artist Sanem Yaman comments on concepts such as consciousness, time and communication though women's bodies. Merve Dündar questions individual's relationship with society and his or herself along with individual boundaries, interactions and identity crises. Through these concepts, the artist focuses on the male gaze, existence, the desire to see and to be seen in her wall installation. When: Until March 19 Where: M-Art Gallery
